QotD: What My Name Means
What does your name mean and why did your parents choose it for you?

I don't recall exactly the origins, but I know that it's derived from something akin to butterfly. So, butterfly it is. This, by the way, had absolutely nothing to do with why my parents chose my name. They just liked the sound of Vanessa Raquel and that was that. Also though, I was going to be named Samantha, but my mom decided she did not like the idea of people calling me "Sam" for short. That's unfortunate. I strike myself as a "Sam" much more than a Vanessa. Most of my friends would agree.
Perhaps I should request a name change to Samantha Raquel...? Wouldn't that be bold of me...and a wee bit odd too...decisions, decisions.
